How high should a desk be set?
The height depends on body size and sitting posture. As a guide, many adults use values around 68 to 76 cm when seated; standing values are usually considerably higher. The individual adjustment is decisive.
Adjust the chair first (feet flat, knees around 90 degrees), then set the desk so that upper and forearm form roughly a right angle with relaxed shoulders. If the desk is fixed, compensate with seat height and a footrest.
Desk depth should be sufficient to achieve the needed viewing distance to the monitor. Alternate regularly between sitting and standing – as a rough guide roughly 60% sitting, 30% standing, 10% moving.
