How often should you take breaks from screen work?
In Germany, rest breaks are prescribed by section 5 of the Working Time Act. Ergonomics additionally recommends short interruptions, posture changes and eye breaks; frequency and length depend on the task and strain.
Short frequent breaks work better than one long afternoon break. Movement is the effective part: stand up, walk, release the shoulders. For the eyes, looking into the distance for a few seconds several times an hour helps.
At home, natural interruptions such as walking to the printer disappear. onyo's free well-being tool supports employees interactively in adopting healthy break and posture-change rhythms – with reminders and movement snacks for everyday life.
