Home office as a service
Is a home office worth it for companies?
Working from home can pay off for companies when suitable tasks, good workstations and functioning collaboration come together. What matters is comparing the additional costs with realistically achievable savings and improvements.
Costs include equipment, services and organisational effort. Offsetting them are, for example, savings in procurement and logistics work or lower office expenses where space can actually be reduced. Lower attendance alone does not reduce an existing lease.
In practice spending is often unbalanced: an office workstation costs around EUR 700 per month on average, while the home workstation often gets EUR 0. In an onyo survey (N = 294, DACH), only 33% of hybrid workers had an ergonomic chair at home.
onyo handles equipment and agreed services. Whether productivity or retention improve beyond that should be assessed against your own results – not a generically promised ROI.
Key points
- Weigh equipment costs against achievable savings
- Approx. EUR 700/month per office desk – often EUR 0 for the home desk
- Only 33% have an ergonomic chair at home (onyo survey, N = 294)
